PIS Mobile Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 31, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how RMSoft Ltd ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the PIS (Public Transport Information System) Mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

📍 Location Data Disclosure: This app collects location data to enable nearby bus stop detection and route suggestions even when the app is closed or not in use.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the App's features:

  • Location Data (Foreground & Background): With your explicit permission, we collect precise GPS location in real time — including while the app runs in the background — to show nearby bus stops, provide live vehicle tracking, and calculate journey times. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
  • Device Information: Hardware model, operating system version, and push notification tokens to deliver alerts and monitor app stability.
  • Usage Data: Aggregated interaction data such as routes searched and crash reports to improve our services. This data does not individually identify you.
  • Camera: With your consent, the App may access your camera for specific features such as document scanning or profile photo upload. Camera access is never used without your prior permission.
  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, phone number, and email address to identify you and secure your session.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and improve core App features including live tracking, route planning, and notifications.
  • Send service alerts, scheduling updates, and security notifications via push notifications (opt-out available in device settings).
  • Analyze aggregated, anonymized usage trends to improve transit algorithms and app stability.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Data collected for one purpose will not be repurposed for another use without your explicit consent.

4. Third-Party Services & SDKs

The App uses the following third-party services. Each is contractually required to provide the same level of data protection as described in this policy:

  • Google Maps / Places SDK — for mapping, route display, and location search. Google Privacy Policy
  • Expo (Push Notifications) — to deliver push alerts to your device. Expo Privacy Policy
  • Google Sign-In SDK — optional social authentication. No additional Google data is accessed beyond basic profile information required for sign-in.
  • Transit Authorities — anonymized, aggregated route data may be shared with public transport operators to improve network planning. No personally identifiable data is shared.

5. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With trusted third-party service providers listed in Section 3, solely to operate the App.
  • When required by law, court order, or government authority.
  • In the event of a company merger or acquisition, with notice provided to you.
  • Anonymized and aggregated transit data with transport authorities for network improvement — this data cannot identify you individually.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services, and up to 12 months after account deletion for legal compliance purposes. Anonymized usage analytics may be retained indefinitely.

To request deletion of your account and all associated personal data, you may:

  • Email us at info@rmsoft.rw with the subject "Account Deletion Request".
  • Use the account deletion option in the App under Settings → Account.

We will process your request within 30 days in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • Location: Enable, restrict, or disable location access at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy → Location Services. Disabling location affects "Nearby" and live tracking features; you can manually enter an address as an alternative.
  • Push Notifications: Opt out of notifications via Settings → Notifications on your device.
  • Camera: Revoke camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy → Camera.
  • Data Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting us at info@rmsoft.rw.
  • Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent to data collection at any time by disabling permissions or deleting your account. Withdrawing consent may limit some App features.

8. Children's Privacy

The PIS Mobile App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at info@rmsoft.rw and we will delete such data promptly.

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 should use the App only with parental or guardian consent.

9. Location Services

Location data is central to the App's core purpose — helping you find nearby bus stops, track vehicles in real time, and plan your journey. We use location only for these purposes:

  • Foreground: Showing your position on the map and nearest stops while you are actively using the App.
  • Background: Continuing to provide live journey tracking and arrival notifications when you switch to another app. Background location is only active when you have an active journey.

We do not use location data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond transit services. If you decline location access, you can still use the App by manually entering your origin and destination.

10. Tracking & Analytics

We use limited, anonymized analytics to understand how users interact with the App so we can improve its performance and stability. We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.

On iOS, if we request permission using Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, you will see a system prompt explaining the specific tracking purpose before any cross-app tracking occurs. You may change this preference at any time in Settings → Privacy → Tracking.

On Android, you can opt out of personalized advertising at any time via Google Settings → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.

11. In-App Reviews

The App may occasionally prompt you to rate it using the official Google Play or Apple App Store in-app review API. We follow platform guidelines strictly: we do not offer incentives or rewards for reviews, we do not prompt excessively, and we do not ask for your opinion before showing the review prompt.

12. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration — including encrypted data transmission (TLS) and secure server infrastructure. However, no transmission over the internet or mobile network is completely infallible, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending a push notification or displaying an in-app notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
