Every key carries an ID that can't be copied or changed, in a waterproof steel housing that needs no battery.

Every trip is linked to the driver whose key was read, so working hours, driving behaviour and fuel use are reported per driver, not just per vehicle. The same keys can serve attendance and access control too.
